Life's Negotiations

In the middle of the night, fear can taunt me with that thought.

I woke up this morning with its voice loud in my ear. 

You know what that's like, when the sunlight seems unable to scare away the demons that haunt you at 3am.

"What makes a life worth living?" My husband asked me one day when the rain had fallen for most of the morning and then burst into sunshine by lunchtime.

This was a question he had been asking himself ever since he left Africa so many years before. He told me that he would catch glimpses of what a life worth living felt like, only to have the idea elude him once again. He wondered whether it was God's way of getting us to pay closer attention and be more conscious of our decisions.  

You are more powerful than you can possibly imagine.

I learned this first hand in 2004 after my third surgery to remove a benign brain tumor. Lying in the ICU with a small cylinder connected to my incision, I asked a question I never thought to ask before.

What is the purpose of this?

A friend is writing a great series of posts on Curing the Incurable - lessons she learned from curing herself of Lupus. 

I'm immensely inspired by her, as well as reminded of my own journey with a benign brain tumor five years ago.  

The cause was different, but the lesson is the same:  We are each the cure to whatever ails us.
