Imagine dumping your purse out on the table in front of you and sifting through what's there in order to:
- Get organized
- Identify what's of value
- Put aside what you don’t need
Clients come to coaching for the same thing, and your coach is a trusted, supportive ally to the process.
As client, you choose the topics and the direction of every conversation. Your coach keeps you on track and holds you accountable for what you say you'll do and what you've said you wanted.
In a word, yes.
Think of a coach as you would a personal trainer, a financial planner, or a housekeeper. Time is precious. The moments you have free are golden. You bring people like these into your life to make life simpler. And, to get as much as you can out of the moments you do have.
You are here because you want more: life more on your terms and less on everyone else’s. There may be a dream in the back of your mind just waiting to become reality.
If that’s true, coaching helps:
- Set aside time each week for you (without feeling selfish)
- Clarify what’s important
- Set goals
- Create a plan and manageable steps to go after what you want
There are similarities between coaching and therapy.
- Clients work with coaches one-on-one, either over the phone or in-person
- There is a strict client-coach confidentiality agreement
Beyond that, the two branch off.
- Coaching deals with the present and the future. Where are you right now and where do you want to be heading?
- Coaching is for people who are highly functioning – striving to do more.
- Coaching is often goal-oriented.
- Coaching has an element of learning - the more you understand who you are, your values and beliefs, the easier it is to make decisions that are consistent.
It is possible to work with a therapist and a coach at the same time, and on the same topic.
One-on-one coaching is available for individuals looking to live more fully awake. That can mean managing a career or personal change, or understanding your motivations better to choose the right next step.
You know the times in your life when things just clicked. When you knew what decision to make and did it without worrying about what everyone else would say. Working with a coach, you learn what was important about those instances, and how to live that way, more authentically, more of the time. Please visit Personal Growth.
