Challenge: 5 should-free days in August

In my newsletter out this week I challenged everyone, including myself, to set aside five days in August for living by instinct.

Whether you're in the office or on vacation, that means reserving five (non-consecutive) days to remove the "should"s and judgment, and do what you feel like doing. No schedule, no itinerary for the whole day.

I know it seems counter-intuitive for a work day, but trust me: you get work done and you feel better. Less rushed, harried, trying to fulfill the needs of others while losing track of your own.

I'm scared & doing it anyway!

In June, I spoke at IgniteDC #4 about How My Brain Tumor Will Change Your Life. Watch me in action!

It was surprising how a certain catchphrase caught on that evening - you can hear the crowd at one point - and on Twitter since.

The choice is yours

The third installment of my series, How My Brain Tumor Will Change Your Life, is about choice.

Even in circumstances that seem beyond your control, you get to choose how you react. That was one of the messages during my speech at Ignite DC 4– watch for the video coming soon.

I obviously didn't choose to have a brain tumor, nor do you choose some things that happen to you. Other than that, though, there is a lot that we can do.

You're in charge of how you feel

When I'm upset, I often think or say the phrase, "you make me feel...". Know what I mean?

I'm taking time out of my series on How My Brain Tumor Will Change Your Life to talk about a common emotional trap. Looking outside for what's happening within.

There are a number of ways we can give our power to others, and many, like this one, are subtle.
